don’t say no

On his way out the door several days ago, Michael said, “you should take the word no out of your vocabulary.”
Well, that made me stop and think
And he’s right, I am saying no more
It’s been a weird year up here so far
Lots of really cold and wet weather for months
Felt easy to say no to going out anywhere
Lots of crime up here too
Shots fired daily
Cars jacked daily
Robberies daily
Seemed safer to say no to going out anywhere
But, the no’s are also a controlling method
No, that dish doesn’t go there
No, that shirt can’t be worn with those pants
No
No
No to whatever is happening
But, why?
I have forgotten about going with the flow
Picking my proverbial oars out of the water and just flowing with the day
It’s so nice when I let go
When I don’t have to know, well anything
The moment in front of us is happening and it’s all a miracle
The moment we are having is so beautiful and it’ll never happen again
Every single second life is changing
Clouds go by and the sky is never the same
What if you and I stopped having an opinion about every single thing and just lived
Right here
Right now
Grateful for everything
However it is
And not saying no, to any of it
