Here

Yesterday we saw the movie, Here starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright
I didn’t know anything about it except that they were in it
It’s layered and lovely and has a lot of lessons
The big one for me was, don’t worry
We can stall a whole life by worrying
We choose to let fear dictate our days and those turn into years
You can defer a dream and apparently a life too
When we’re thirty, fifty seems so far away
I wish I had a sense then for how quickly a life can stall
I know that I am not the only one who can relate to getting sidelined
Mine was a long illness that led to the closing of my dream business
But, a divorce can do it
So can financial reasons or the death of a loved one
But, a dream deferred can also end up being the catalyst to change
To take the class
Take the trip
To show up
Make the art
We are all right here, right now
It’s crazy to think that half this country is cheering and the other half is cringing over the same man
We need help to find a way out of the chaos and back to each other
We can do better than this
In this divided country maybe it’s your voice we need
Maybe it’s your words or your art that will help us
We can’t solve anything with worry and we can’t solve anything if we don’t try
Maria Robinson said, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending."
I think that sounds like something we can all do
Let’s be here, right now and make something beautiful happen with our lives
