Words matter

I was listening to the SmartLess podcast and the guys were interviewing, Bradley Cooper
In it he talks about having no self-esteem when he was younger, literally no self-esteem
He didn’t feel like he was valuable or attractive, at all
Seriously?
This man is one of the best looking guys in Hollywood
So, what does that say about what you see, when you look into a mirror?
Who’s in there telling you anything?
If he can feel that
What about the rest of us?
When you look in the mirror does that voice tell you you’re too old now?
Too fat
That you’ve missed your chance
Apparently self-esteem and confidence have nothing to do with how you look to others
It is how you look to yourself
Do you say you’re, just a mom
Cringe at your thinning hair or belly fat
Think that the days behind you were better than today
The things we say to ourselves when we are peering at our reflection matter
They matter a lot
I heard Oprah tell a story about a party, Maya Angelou was throwing and she heard somebody telling an off-color joke and she stopped the party and spoke to the person and asked them to leave her house
She said, because words have so much power that she didn’t want that vile language to stick to her carpet or to her curtains and hang in the air
That’s an incredible example for us all
Words matter
What you say silently to yourself, matters
Even if you’re a very handsome man in Hollywood
