30,000 days

Heading to Oklahoma for my dads funeral
I was listening to the Rich Roll podcast
He was interviewing, Neil Pasricha
Neil is a speaker and author who is full of wisdom and interesting facts on life and how to live it better
He had a blog called 1000 Awesome things that has 100- million hits
I encourage everyone to find that podcast and listen to this conversation.
It is truly, awesome
One of the things he mentions among many, is the fact that most people live 30,000 days
My dad lived 30,799
He lived them very well
He enjoyed life and all it held
He truly did what he wanted
When he wanted
How he wanted
With whom he wanted
He had a grip on life like no one I’ve ever known
And now I’m thinking about my time
So far, I’ve lived 19,637 days
If I live to be my dad’s age, I’ve got over a little over 11,000 left
We all know our days are numbered
We talk about it as casually as we talk about the weather
We know death is coming for us
I’ve known for the longest time death is supposed to be one of our greatest teachers, but we all live like it’s never going happen
We take for granted, that plans we make for next Tuesday are going to happen
We assume a lot
I’m grateful for the time I had with my father
I’m gutted that it’s over
I’m committed to living as fiercely and fully as he did
To make my days as meaningful as possible
There are at least 1000 awesome things I’ve done in my life and I want a thousand more
I hope we can look at our calendar’s differently now
I hope we say no to more things that don’t bring joy
I hope you find a thousand awesome things to make every day meaningful
And whatever number of days you have left
I hope you live them really well
