All aboard
One of the many things I love about Chicago is the elevated trains
They run parallel and across from the roads
Same time
Somewhere different
Sort of like us, now
Our bodies are in the same place but our thoughts,
go somewhere different
I read something today that Deepak Chopra wrote in his book,Metahuman.
He is talking about freedom being the natural state of our existence. That knowing is us being aware, here and now.
He continues with the realization that we all have our own version of what it is feels like to be free and it’s opposite, feeling trapped.
He asks for us to contemplate that freedom doesn’t need its opposite to be true.
For example “Think of a moment and describe what you were doing at 7:37 last Tuesday evening. What thoughts were in your head? What words did you say? Even if something memorable happened, it takes a minute to recall it. You are free from 7:37 last Tuesday evening because there is no attachment to it. A moment of now has fled and gone. The moment you started to read this has fled and gone.”
I think that is unbelievably profound and unbelievably clear
So, why do we cling to some thoughts and not others?
Why is it so easy to let go of a million thoughts that rumble down the tracks of our minds and others stop us in our tracks?
When we allow ourself to ponder the worst, we pulse with anxiety
When we take in too much negativity, it negates the now
It’s why meditation is such a fantastic tool
To learn to sit in uncertainty
To give up control
To just breathe
To become malleable
Mindful of what we are mulling over
We are capable of expansion
We are capable of so much more than we think
Brian McLaren wrote a book titled We Make the Road by Walking
I love that idea
We make what we want
We go where we need, inside us for now
What do you want to explore?
What road will you make?
What direction are you headed?
What are the signs you are seeing in your life?
Peaceful and all clear ahead
Closed for repair
Detour now or
Stop it’s a dead end
If it’s not where you want to be, turn around
Reevaluate
Reverse if you need to
Reinventing yourself is possible
Reimagine all of it
Every moment you are free to begin again
Every moment is as fleeting as any thoughts you don’t cling to
Clouds roll by unencumbered
So can we
The tracks we lay down can take us anywhere
Railroads changed everything about our country
The connection of towns and businesses were revolutionary
We moved about in an unimaginable way
The tracks we lay down can take us anywhere
Where will you be, when you get free?
