Be kind

In my new favorite book- The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse from Charlie Mackesy 
The boy is asked 
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” 
“Kind” said the boy
It gets me right in the heart every time 
I’ve read this wonderful book multiple times
If you haven’t heard of it, please look it up 
Every page and every word is pure art and pure heart 
What if we all had a goal, just to be kind 
All day to everyone 
We needed no other reason than to just be kind
We all know somebody that gets under our skin 
We all have members of our families that make us sure we must be adopted
We all have a love/hate with someone on our socials
But what if even with those people we could be kind 
In our responses 
In our way of being
In our own hearts 
I know everything is different right now 
We all want the life we used to have
But, what if this changes us for the better?
What if we all had within us the capacity for kindness that we’d never known before?
I see the simplicity in this
I also see the alternative 
We never know how much we may impact someone 
So, today I will choose to be kind
