Fast forward
We were watching football over the weekend
I was fast forwarding and Michael says, “don’t do it, I want to see all of it. The replays and commercials, it’s all of it. It makes the game.”
That got me thinking about life and how much we try to fast forward through
Before I got sick, Michael always called me Go Go
He said I had two speeds, fast forward and asleep
No in between
I obviously still have those tendencies
I get that last year we all hit pause
But, life will resume
Classes will fill up
Closed signs will come down
Will our old ways come back as well?
Plowing through
Getting to it
Tell me as we walk, I’m late
How much will we miss?
What do you gain, in fast forward?
Because it matters
We have taken so much for granted
People we love
Places we like to go
Have all been restricted
When we get back together
Let’s savor it
Slow down and really see who you are across from
Don’t multitask
Because life, is all of it
Carpool
Conversations
Red lights
Spilled milk
Construction delays
First dates
It’s all of it
Kristi Nelson said “Life is not about "or" it is about "and." It is magical and messy. It is heartwarming and heartbreaking. It is delight and disappointment. Grace and grief. Exquisite and excruciating, often at the exact same time.”
Every little thing makes up a life
I want to be present for all of it and without the need to fast forward
