For what its worth

"For what it's worth ... it's never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of, and if you're not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again."

-- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The courage to start all over again
It’s a lot to do
To pick up the pieces
Refigure it out
Answer the question to, what now?
We all have phases in our lives that will end
Some we desperately want to be over
Other parts we’d like to keep forever
But, we all know the only constant in life, is change
I’ve had to start over more times than I can count
Starting with changing schools every two years and in high school I changed every year
That’s a lot of being the new kid
Not ever knowing anyone on day one
I must not have minded because I was the one deciding to do it
My Facebook is now filled with friends I’d never have otherwise
Hazel Hira Ozbek says "You don't need a new year or a new day to start over. You only need a new mindset.”
What is something that you need to start again?
What’s been calling you when you are not distracted and completely in the moment
Maybe it’s something you need to unlearn
Some way of being that doesn’t serve you anymore
We all decide everyday who we will be
How we will show up
There is a quote from Black Elk that I love ”Behold this day, for it is yours to make.”
It’s a lot to commit to doing something new or to stop something old and ingrained
We have the freedom to create our lives
Everyday we choose
Everyday we get a chance to do it again
But, our days are numbered and we never know what our number is
It’s the great mystery and our time here is temporary
So, don’t waste what you have
Don’t hoard what could help someone else
Don’t get to the end and regret anything
Be who you were born to be
Whatever that looks like
What’s important is that you don’t die with your gift still inside you
And if you don’t know what that gift is yet
Answer this question from Rumi
“What in your life is calling you? When all the noise is silenced, the meetings adjourned, the lists laid aside and the wild iris blooms by itself in the dark forest. What still pulls on your soul?”
Close your eyes
Decide what you want
And then go do that
