Get your mind right

I listen to Dr. Wayne Dyers podcast and it’s fantastic to be able to still hear his voice. His teachings are clear and easy and my mom raised me on his books. In one episode recently he was speaking about a mind virus and how when you change your thoughts, you change your life.
He actually wrote a book with the same title
With all the talk of the corona virus, I was intrigued
What virus was implanted in your mind?
He says we’ve all had something implanted that’s infecting us
What belief is in there, that’s not good for you
Or even true
Is it that you’re not good enough
Not pretty enough
Too loud
Too girly Too big
Too short
What were you told that you need to get rid of like a pair of contaminated covid gloves
What is it that you tell yourself silently but repeatedly that isn’t right or healthy
The mind is an amazing thing but it can get viscous in there
My brother always says “ you gotta get your mind right”
And it’s true
If your mind isn’t clear and connected
Things can get ugly
I believe that when you change your thoughts, your life changes
When you get clear on the negative tape that plays on a continuous loop in your mind, you will change
You will be softer with yourself
You will be kinder and nicer to live with
Our attitudes are contagious and so is kindness
We are all more aware of our grocery store clerks
Our delivery people
The healthcare workers
But, put yourself on the list too
We all need extra love right now and a lot of hope
Father Richard Rohr wrote, “the virtue of hope, with great irony, is the fruit of a learned capacity to suffer wisely, calmly, and generously. The ego demands successes to survive; the soul needs only meaning to thrive. Somehow hope provides its own kind of meaning, in a most mysterious way.”
I love that
The soul needs only meaning to thrive
What can this time mean to you
How can it enhance you
What are you hoping for
Praying for
Is it for this to just be over
Or is it for something more
A deeper meaning to your life
Dr. Dyer says,” if you don’t have a temple in your heart you’ll never find your heart in a temple”
Since synagogues are shuttered
And churches are closed
Where do you find solace, for your soul
When this is over
Who do you want to be
What are you hoping for
There will be an end to this quarantine and when it’s done
I hope you get your mind right
So you thrive
