To Life

We just got back from a fantastic Caribbean vacation.
On our way off the island, we stopped a gardener and asked him to help us get a seed pod from one of the Flamboyant trees.
Living in Charleston, I thought this beautiful tree might make it here.
He happily obliged and told us how to plant the seeds to make sure they do well.
It got me thinking about the seeds of life.
What makes us grow into the most beautiful versions of ourselves, even if we are transplanted to somewhere else?
On this vacation, I was privileged to spend a lot of time with Rabbi Lewis.
He is an incredibly wise man and we had hours of deep conversations about all manner of things.
And that got me thinking about the words we live by.
What words are you living by?
There’s a scene in the Hulu series, the Bear, that shows a sign on the wall. It says “every second counts” and you can tell by the way the staff looks at the plaque that they lived by that motto.
Those were the words that drove them.
Inspired them
Made them act in particular way
Those three words
Shaped a life
So, what words are you living by?
What words define you?
Is it that you’re not good enough?
Is it that you’re too old?
Is it that you’re not married?
What if your words were like seeds, to help you grow into a beautiful version of yourself?
I am worthy.
I am capable.
Yes I can.
I am blessed.
Pay attention to the words you use, to others and yourself.
They matter.
Use them to become something more beautiful.
Seeds to make your life grow beautifully, just like my Flamboyant tree.
And deep conversations with people you respect, like the Rabbi.
Words matter
It all matters
To life
