Just in Case
I’ve heard it said that three of the most influential words are;
just in case
There is a theory that those three words are responsible for our over consumption and inability to throw things out
We might need it, someday
Someone may want that, later
People hoarded toilet paper
Just in case
We were taught to leave the house in clean clothes
Just in case, we are in an accident
We now wear masks and wash our hands
Just in case, we catch the Covid
Our society is collapsing financially
Small businesses still can’t reopen
Just in case, we all get sick
I’m not saying that I’m not for social distancing and
for taking precautions and I understand some areas were very hard hit
The losses to those that lost, are staggering
But, how much of our lives
Our directions and decisions are funneled through the thought of
Just in case
What do you buy
What do you hold onto
What do you believe in
Just in case
What would be different about you
Your life
Your home
If you let go of things
Just because
Who could you be if you decided not to worry
If you decided to feel grateful that you are alive and loved
Just because
Not for an outcome or out of fear
Not for any reason at all
To just be here, in your life
Trusting that it all has meaning and purpose
Believing that we will all be okay
But for now, stay 6 feet away
Just in case
