Just to be is a blessing
“Just to be is a blessing. Just to live is holy.” Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel
I believe him
I really do
But, I have wondered more than once
Is there a point to all this?
I’ve had many friends become empty nesters
It’s a difficult transition
Your life is drastically changed
Your home is too quiet
You have more time and less to do
You ask yourself, who am I now?
It’s the same set of questions after a long illness
John Templeton said,”Everyone has special talents, and it is our duty to find ours and use them well."
So, who do you become after a big change?
Do you want to be a better you, in your part two?
What talent that may have gone dormant, can you revive?
It takes some work to be your best self
It takes time to create a good life
I know I am meant to be here, in this moment
I wouldn’t have been given a part two otherwise
I am writing these weekly musings as a way of using my life, to redefine who I am now
We are all here for a reason
Even a bad example has value
We are all connected in a very deep way
We breathe in the same air, under the same sky
We all love and worry
Laugh and wonder
Crave joy
So, yes, just to be here is a blessing
Our lives are holy things
