Uncertainty is always certain
Uncertainty is always certain
We never know what is going to happen next
We can presume and assume
Conjecture all we want
We can discuss and debate
In the end, it’s still a mystery
Why we are here
What we are really supposed to be doing
What our purpose is
It’s all a bit uncertain
A lot of life feels like chance
Random happenings that make up a day
I want to believe that coincidences are not an accident
I’d like to think that we have a little help sometimes
That people are put on our path for a reason
That angels do walk among us
Michael and I have had so many unexpected things happen
Books showing up with just the right story
Meals showing up at just the right time
New friends stepping in when the old ones disappeared
I had a complete stranger touch my head, while I was sitting in my wheelchair at LAX and pray over me
Turned out she was in the wrong terminal
Or was she?
I have never forgotten how that felt and the impact she had on my life
I didn’t have any hope of recovery then and somehow that lady
That prayer
That feeling
Instilled in me a belief that I’d make it
It would be another six months before I learned about the clinical trial in Chicago that saved me
Somehow she gave my uncertainty, certainty
How we go through our day matters
How you greet someone in a store matters
How you respond to someone on Facebook matters
How you reach out to a friend, matters
We are all connected
We all have to breathe, eat and sleep
We know this for sure
We also know that uncertainty feels awful
So today, be kinder than you think you can be
Show up as someone's angel
Smile and help them feel glad, just to be alive
It will make you feel good
I’m certain of it
