We are all humans

We are all humans
We all belong
No debating that
We all have bodies albeit some have way better ones than others
We all have faces and organs and fingers and heads
We all think
And love
And care a lot about our families
Sure we disagree
Like with cilantro, I’m a no on that one by the way
Vegetarians vs meat eaters
Which football team you root for
Beach vacation vs mountain resort
All these things are just preferences
Not people
And politics
Wowza what is happening there is atrocious
Red or Blue, no one is listening to the other
I watched CNN and Fox the same time for a week
Flipping back and forth with commercials
It was like I lived in two different countries
Completely different take on every single story
No wonder we don’t understand each other
There are lots of issues that are important
Not all of them are the same to everyone
Let’s go back to cilantro
If I don’t like it it doesn’t mean I don’t like you, if you do
It’s a preference
I believe it’s why we have so many colors in a crayon box
We are all going to like something different
At the end of the day, does it make you like me less if I like turquoise and you like sky blue?
Of course not
This is my plea;
Can we please all remember that we are unique
We all see and hear and do things that may not be your way
It’s okay
It’s not going to fix anything by alienating anyone who’s different from you
Embrace the fact that we are all just doing the best we can
We are all just trying to show up and get a life that fills us up
We are just like the crayons in the big box with the sharpener
Together we can make a beautiful world with every color imaginable
The sharpener doesn’t change the crayon, it just gets it back to the best version of itself
Remember that next time you start to feel aggravated
Maybe that person has just gotten dulled with use
I think it’s more interesting to embrace our differences
And show people some grace who think differently
I’ve heard my whole life that America is a melting pot
And I think that lots of ingredients make a better meal
As long as it doesn’t have cilantro
